About Old Man Plays Games66

Hi, I'm Lee Palmer, the old man in Old Man Plays Games66. I'm an older gamer, and survival games are what I enjoy most: dropping into a world with nothing, figuring out how it works, and slowly turning a dangerous place into somewhere I can hold. If you like the same kind of games, please subscribe and come along.

What the channel covers

Most of what I play falls into a few groups:

  • Long survival series such as VEIN and The Gold River Project, where one world carries on for dozens of episodes and sometimes several seasons.
  • Early Access games like Permafrost, played from launch so you can see how a game starts out and how it changes with each update.
  • First looks and demos, often one or two episodes, to see whether a new survival game is worth more time.

How the videos are made

The channel started out with no commentary. I talk more now, but I still keep it fairly sparse so you can enjoy the game itself. Survival games have a lot of quiet moments, like walking home with a full backpack or waiting out a storm, and I would rather leave some of those in than cut the video down to nothing but action. I trim the dead spots and the menu shuffling so the episodes move along.

When I say a game is good, bad or somewhere in between, that's my own opinion after playing it. Game developers don't pay for coverage here. If that ever changes, or if a developer provides a free copy of a game, the video and its page on this site will say so clearly.

About this website

With more than a thousand videos on the channel, YouTube can be a hard place to find a series from the beginning. This site exists to fix that. Each series page explains what the game is, sums up what happens in my playthrough, suggests where to start, and lists the episodes in order.

Game facts on these pages, such as the developer, release dates and player counts, are checked against the game's official store page and the developer's announcements. Each page shows when it was last reviewed. Games change quickly, especially in Early Access, so if something is out of date please let me know.

Advertising

This site may show a small number of ads from Google AdSense to help cover the cost of running it. Ads never decide which games I play or what I say about them. The details are in the privacy policy.
