What Forest Doesn't Care is

Forest Doesn't Care drops you into a large, very realistic forest and then leaves you alone. There are no waypoints, no GPS, no quest markers and no tutorial telling you what matters. The developers, MOROZ GAMES, describe it as a game made by just two people, and it came out on Steam on August 29, 2025.

It began life as an atmospheric mushroom-picking game, and you can still play it that way: walk, listen, forage. Updates have since added a real survival layer with camping, hunting, fishing, gathering, hunger, tiredness and cold, along with a co-op mode. Underneath the quiet there is something strange going on in these woods, and the further you walk the odder the discoveries get.

Fair warning if you plan to play it yourself: the detail comes at a cost, so it wants a strong PC and an SSD.

What happens in this series

The series starts with a simple Day 1: walk into the forest and find out it doesn't want to let you leave. The early episodes are about getting oriented without a map, then finding a severed hand and trying to track down who it belonged to, which leads to a plane wreck.

From there things escalate. There are aliens in this forest, a sniper rifle and tree climbing, and finally a large backpack. Around the middle of the run the game started to win the channel over (the episode title says it: “This Survival Game is REALLY Growing on Me!”), and it became one of the most-watched videos on the channel. Later episodes release the cave people, uncover a much bigger operation than expected, include a meeting with the Reaper that didn't go as planned, and end with the question of whether you can ever leave.

Where to start

Start with Day 1. The game gives you so little information that the slow first steps are part of the fun, and the story threads (the hand, the wreck, the operation) only make sense in order. The whole series is ten episodes, so it's an easy one to watch from start to finish.
